Mac compile of anything recent?

I know there were problems with compiling and running 0.41. Has anybody looked at what is needed for 0.5? I've found the necessary bits for making vanilla 3.0.6 compile (trying it now), but the 0.5p6 download seems to be missing a valid make file for OS X.

Any pointers? If somebody can help me muddle through the issues, I can make OS X builds.

Re: Mac compile of anything recent?

I *think* I have compiled a working mac version of 0.5.0wip6 which I just sent to Jeff. It certainly works for me, but since part of the issues were with file permissions, I won't be sure until someone else tries it.

Re: Mac compile of anything recent?

Great news! I'd be happy to test things out as well.

Once we figure out the steps to make a build work right, I can write up a revision to the compile notes and hopefully get it into the official distribution.

Re: Mac compile of anything recent?

Well, it was only one step, although it took a long time to figure it out. Part of the reason why you can't compile it is because the main-crb.c file with the current source isn't the right one (but Jeff has the good one, which he sent to me so I could compile this), so that should be fixed on the next release.

The only change I made to make it work was to turn SET_UID off so that file permissions weren't borked. If it works for other people, that can easily be done for the next mac release without problems.

Ok, cool. Hopefully the fixes will be available soon! I've got the itch to play!

The compiled version is available at the NPP website at:

Thanks again to Pedro.

I had a very busy summer at work, but that all ended yesterday and I should be coding NPP on a fairly regular basis until we finally finish NPP 050.

Re: Mac compile of anything recent?

Well, the build doesn't work for me. It launches, but the window comes up buried in the menubar (origin at absolute 0,0?), and when I try to open a second terminal, it crashes. I posted the crash in the bug forum.

Thanks for the build, though. :-)
