Quest types

What's the difference between a "Monster or Unique Quest" and a "Fixed Monster Quest"?

Re: Quest types

The monster or unique quest is the traditional quest where if you leave the level you might fail it.

The fixed monster quest is like the game quests for Sauron or Morgoth.  You can enter or leave the level as often as you like, but you won't get a down staircase until you finish it.  The only two ways to fail are to die and the guild service "fail quest".  The monsters are slighly deeper than the traditional monster quest, and the rewards/fame increase are slightly higher as well.

Re: Quest types

Are the quests in the guild listed in increasing order of most fame/best rewards?   So fixed monster quests give more fame/better rewards than level quests?   It seem to me so far that level quests are the hardest, since there are so many monsters in huge rooms, and you can't leave until it's all done.

Re: Quest types

Right now the guild quests are listed in the order in which I created them.  Once I add a couple more quest types (such as wilderness quests) I might try to sort it by difficulty.

What I really want to add is something like the system used in the Call of Duty multiplayer, where you get a bunch of open ended quests at the beginning of the game, and you get some sort of recognition and a xp bonus, and maybe a bonus item when you kill 500 orcs, 100 Great Wyrms, 100 liches, etc....But there is no requirement to complete the quests and no penalty if you don't.

Level quests are definitely the hardest, although sometimes Vault quests can be much harder depending on the monsters in the vault and which one is holding the artifact.

Re: Quest types

I'd go for guardian or even "level Guardian" it makes more sense than "Fixed"

Re: Quest types

Cool!  one time I got past the quest level; I did a teleportLevel (scroll or spell I don't remember) and sunk through the floor. was still able to go back and finish it.  not sure if that is a bug or not

Re: Quest types

A Guardian (fixed monster) quest?  That is a bug, if it was.  I can quickly check that and fix it in the source code.
